Scrap Iron

For some reason, I have always found the blues hard to navigate. The tunes are usually pretty simple, easy to hear, yet, I can’t do without hitting some crap notes.

I try to do a lot of listening. Especially to tunes that feature sax players doing what I cannot. I’d like to share a tune with you from Duke Pearson’s album, The Right Touch. The song is called Scrap Iron.

Scrap Iron by Duke Pearson

The album features Duke Pearson, of course (piano), Freddie Hubbard (trumpet), Stanley Turrentine (tenor sax), James Spaulding (alto sax), Jerry Dodgion (alto sax), Garnett Brown (trombone), Gene Taylor (bass), and my long lost cousin, Grady Tate (drums). I promise you won’t hear any crap notes here. These guys are legends of their craft.

I hope you enjoy the song as much as I do.
