I am still learning slowly. As I’ve said many times before, there are a lot of tunes I used to think I knew. I had never taken the time to figure out how the tunes actually worked or worked out the harmony or how it was put together.
Green Dolphin Street was one of my favorite tunes. It is a relatively easy tune but still, I had not worked out the harmony and how it works. I am beginning to do that now and I can hear more ideas in my head as I do. I am not exactly able to deliver them without flaws but I’m getting there I hope. I will be working at it for a long while.
I can’t believe how arrogant I had been about my abilities or lack thereof. The military is a great way to get paid to practice your craft (in your free time that is, and there’s lots of it).
I guess I let other things like life and it’s inherent problems get in the way. But hey, it is what it is. All I can do now is try to do what I should have done when I was younger.
