Hide and Seek

Dan L., a friend of mine, turned me on to Joshua Redman while we were stationed in New Orleans together. While there in 1996 we saw Joshua perform at the House of Blues. It was one of the best jazz concerts I have had the pleasure of seeing. Joshua was on fire. Since that time Joshua has been another of my favorite tenor sax players. He also sounds incredible on soprano sax.

  1. Tony,

My name is Aaron, I live out in Oakland CA and I saw that you took at look at my Sonny Rollins blog post, so i wanted to check out your site as well. Great pieces of jazz and getting back into playing the saxophone. I especially like this blog on Joshua Redman. He has been one of my favorites for a long while. In fact, I just saw him live a few weeks ago at Kuumbwa Jazz Center in Santa Cruz, CA. Also, you are correct that he puts on a great show, one of the best players and performers around without a doubt!

    1. Nice to make your acquaintance Aaron. I love Joshua. He’s a mad man on the tenor. I hope to reach higher levels one of these days. It’s the only thing I think about. I can’t believe I ever gave it up. I hope you continue to come by.
