I had another gig on May 2 with the Hot Peppers, in North Charleston. We played at the North Charleston Senior Center. It was some sort of middle of the day dance or art appreciation or something.
It was a short performance. We only played from 3-4 PM. The audience seemed to have a good time. We ended up playing The Electric Slide at the end by request. It was a little rough. We had never rehearsed the song. However, it was the only time people got up to dance.
We have two more gigs in the coming month of June, on the 13th and the 29th. The one on the 29th will be in Moncks Corner, SC. On the 13th we will be in Clinton, SC.
I didn’t think I was ready to do this, the working band thing. I’m not, really. I still have a long way to go before I consider myself a good sax player. I may never get there. My body may never allow me to get there. I live in enough pain that I sometimes just don’t feel like doing anything, let alone practice.
