It has been a day since my carpal tunnel surgery. All I can think about is ripping off the bandage. I’m not sure I can wear it for 7 days. My hand hurts, but, not so much that I have to take any medication. But the bandage makes me want to scratch. It’s hot. And I can’t figure out how to take a shower without getting it wet.

I am very smelly at this point. The doctor told me to put a plastic grocery bag over my arm to take shower. I don’t think that will work, though I will try it. If it gets wet I will take it off. It is not wrapped very tightly, but, I find it uncomfortable.
In the picture above I look calm, but on the inside, I’m screaming! I don’t know what it is. As I get older the more claustrophobic I become. Could it be this bad, that I can’t even wear a bandage for 7 days? I don’t know, but it feels that way.
As far as the surgery it seems to have been successful. I did feel a little numbness in my fingers today, but it could be because of swelling at the incision. Once everything has healed I hope my fingers will feel normal. I’m just glad that I can still move them. That was my biggest fear. And they move without difficulty. So, at least I will be able to resume playing my horn.
