This song has been recorded by everyone, from Dexter Gordon, Sonny Rollins, Chet Baker, to people I never even heard of. It is quite old. It was written in 1939 by, Tadd Dameron. It is considered a jazz standard. It seems simple, but, when you hear me play it you’ll realize it’s not so simple for me. I’m getting close but, I don’t think I quite understand the tune. I should probably play it slower. None of the artists’ recordings I listened to were near as fast as I’m trying to play. Also, this is a terrible recording. The levels are bad, and I made it worse by trying to boost them.
If you want to hear the many ways it is supposed to be played, just search “Lady Bird” on youtube.
