How High The Moon

I had not practiced since about the middle of March. That month I went to Rhode Island to witness my daughter’s graduation from the Navy’s Officer Candidate School. It was 4 days away from my own bed. It brought me great physical pain.

I normally sleep on a 10 inch memory foam mattress. It is the best type of mattress for me. When I sleep on a conventional mattress, it is very painful. There is no support for the curvature of my lower back. By the time I got home, my back was completely out of whack. Practicing slipped to the back burner. The only activity I refused to let go was riding my motorcycle, which aggregated my condition.

Shortly after getting back, I went to Texas to visit family. Another 2 weeks of not sleeping in my own bed. When I got home, I was in even worst shape. By the time the pain lifted, five months had gone by before I picked up the horn again.

The video was recorded on the 3rd or 4th day of practice. It didn’t sound as terrible as I thought might. I’m glad to be playing again.
